What Are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are nonsurgical treatments that involve a specialized acid formula being painted directly onto the skin. Peels vary in strength and intensity, with stronger formulas penetrating deeper below the surface and creating more dramatic results, as well as more downtime required for healing after a session.
During a treatment, a patient’s chosen chemical peel is applied and left on for a set amount of time. Once it has done its work, the peel is neutralized and cleaned off. Some results will be visible right away, while others will develop over time. In general, peels are good for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, evening out skin tone, fading scars, and reducing the appearance of large pores. They can also help with certain conditions, such as acne.
